Nick Huston, owner of Barn Dog Electric, was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. After graduating from Grant High School and the University of Oregon, Nick entered the electrical trade, where he spent over a decade building hands-on experience across residential and commercial projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Nick founded Barn Dog Electric with a clear mission: to deliver safe, high-quality electrical work with honest communication and fair pricing. As a licensed electrician, he specializes in electrical safety inspections, panel and circuit upgrades, surge protection systems, and code corrections to keep homes and businesses safe and up to date.

Barn Dog Electric also provides custom lighting design, LED retrofits, lighting upgrades, smart home wiring, and EV charging station installation — helping customers modernize their spaces with efficient, future-ready solutions. For commercial clients, Barn Dog handles office and tenant improvements, as well as sign and exterior lighting projects.

Whether it’s troubleshooting a small issue or completing a full panel upgrade, Nick approaches every project with the same commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and attention to detail.

Family is at the heart of this business. When he’s not on the job, Nick enjoys spending his time with his wife Christine, their two daughters, and their three dogs — KC, JoJo, and Maple — who are always in the mix. In his downtime, Nick enjoys carpentry projects, a round of golf, and making it up to the mountain for snowboarding.
